More heavy rain is forecast for the Bay of Plenty, with MetService issuing a severe weather watch.
The agency said rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern areas of the North Island from Wednesday night, although this is unlikely to reach warning levels.
Heavier rain is expected east of Whakatane, with the heaviest falls overnight.
