A person is dead and two people have been taken to hospital after a multiple-vehicle crash that caused massive disruption on Auckland's southern motorway.
Northbound lanes were shut for several hours until about 8pm as emergency services and serious crash investigators attended.
Emergency services say one person was killed when a van hit a lamppost and rolled between Te Irirangi Drive and the northbound Otara on-ramp just after 4pm.
Two people were taken to Middlemore Hospital - one in a serious condition, the other with moderate injuries.
