Two young men are to stand trial in Christchurch for the murder of a taxi driver.

Randall Legion Wiremu Brown, 19, and a person aged 16 at the time are accused of fatally stabbing Abdulrahman Ikhtiari on 6 December last year.

Over the past three days witnesses have given evidence at a depositions hearing in the Youth Court, detailing what happened on the night Mr Ikatiari was killed.

Several witnesses told the court both the accused were seen in town partying, telling friends they had "shanked", or stabbed, a taxi driver.

The trial will be held in the High Court next year.
