A man was attacked with a chainsaw in Whangarei on Friday night and police say he is lucky to be alive.
Sergeant Craig Burrows says a man became upset with another man at the same address and struck him with the chainsaw, which was on, leaving him with head injuries.
The injured man is understood to need surgery, but is expected to recover.
A man will appear in court on Saturday morning.
