Students were evacuated from parts of the University of Auckland's Epsom campus on Monday after fire broke out in a cafeteria.
The Fire Service says about 80 firefighters worked to contain the fire that started in a vat in the cafeteria.
A spokesman said the Fire Service was called about 10.20am on Monday.
A student who was evacuated said there was a lot of black smoke.
