She also won the award for best talk or current affairs host, while her programme was named best daily or weekly series of an hour or more's duration.

Ms Hill has presented the Saturday programme since 2002, and before that presented Morning Report and Nine To Noon.

The outstanding contribution to broadcasting award is the latest in a series of recent national and international accolades that have marked her career.

Last week, Kim Hill was selected as a finalist in the best talkshow host category of the New York Festival Radio Awards. In 2012, she was named International Radio Personality of the Year by the Association for International Broadcasting in London.

In other awards on Thursday, long-serving Radio New Zealand presenter Hewitt Humphrey was named news reader of the year.

Radio New Zealand's Insight and Mediawatch programmes shared the award for best programme of less than an hour's duration.

The station of the year went to The Sound, a MediaWorks music station.

Newstalk ZB's Leighton Smith won the award for best talkback host, while The Morning Rumble Team of Roger Farrelly, Leah Panapa, Bryce Casey and Andrew Mulligan on The Rock was named best music breakfast show.

Radio Live's Amanda Snow was named radio journalist of the year, while Radio Sport's Tony Veitch won for best sports presenter or commentator.
