9:30 pm on 16 May 2013

Police in Timaru have charged a woman for breaching the name suppression of a man involved in a high-profile court case.

Matthew Krouse was granted name suppression when he first appeared in the Timaru District Court in November 2012 charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to a nine-year-old boy.

Within hours of that appearance, a photo of him was posted on the social networking site Facebook.

Suppression for Mr Krouse was lifted at a subsequent court appearance.

Police say a woman, who has name suppression, has been charged with knowingly breaching name suppression.

If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of six months' imprisonment or a $100,000 fine.

The woman will appear in the Timaru District Court on 4 June.
