MetService has issued a heavy rain warning for parts of central New Zealand.
In Nelson, rainfall of up of 35mm per hour is possible in some parts of the region, with up to 100mm in total expected in the ranges.
Heavy rain is also expected on Friday in eastern Bay of Plenty with rainfall totals of up to 100mm over the next 24 hours.
Surface flooding and slips are possible.
