The company which owned the coolstore at the centre of a massive fire that claimed the life of a fire officer near Hamilton a year ago has pleaded guilty to three charges laid by the Department of Labour.

Seven other firemen were seriously injured when the Icepak coolstore at Tamahere exploded.

Icepak pleaded guilty in the Hamilton District Court on Wednesday to charges laid under the Health and Safety in Employment Act.

Three directors of the company, who are also charged, are maintaining their not guilty pleas.

The case is expected back in court early next month.
