Tickets promised for bad parking at rugby match

Wellington City Council says fans attending a major rugby match on Saturday will be ticketed if they park illegally or dangerously near the venue.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the match between Tawa and Marist St Pat's at Lyndhurst Park in Tawa, when they play for the Swindale Shield.

The council was criticised earlier this year after traffic wardens issued tickets at a match at the park when Tawa played Petone.

A spokesperson said the council usually sends parking wardens to issue tickets around suburban parks only if it gets complaints from neighbours, and if that happens on Saturday, the wardens will be back.
