Immigration adviser loses licence

An immigration adviser has lost his licence for ''displaying significant ethnic bigotry''.

Hakaoro Hakaoro charged a Pacific Island woman, who was being forced to leave New Zealand, $3000 for a visa application he never lodged.

The Immigration Advisers Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal said Hakaoro grossly exceed the fee, despite knowing he could do nothing to assist the woman.

It said his offending involved egregious abuse of a vulnerable client and he was unfit to be a licensed immigration adviser.

Hakaoro was ordered to pay $8000, refund $3000 to the client and banned from holding a licence for two years.
