$8.3 million seized from drug crime since 2009 will be allocated to Government agencies to fight drug-related crime and addiction.
Government agencies will soon be able to bid for funding for specific drug and law enforcement initiatives.
Justice Minister Judith Collins said the Government is sending a very clear message by taking money made by drug dealers to directly fight crime and addiction.
She said bids will be assessed by the Inter-Agency Committee on Drugs, and the Government will have decided who to fund by the end of the year.
