A man died after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a ditch full of water near Christchurch on Sunday morning.
Police were called to Rhodes Road, in Tai Tapu, about 10.30am after a vehicle upside down was seen in a drainage ditch by a member of the public.
The driver, Oliver Steven Mills of Tai Tapu, 18, was found dead inside the vehicle.
Police said it appears the car flipped and landed in the ditch near the road between 1am - 7am on Sunday.
