Civilian shot by Napier gunman out of hospital

10:49 pm on 26 May 2009

The last of the people injured by a Napier gunman has been released from hospital.

Jan Molenaar shot Leonard Holmwood and three police officers earlier in May, prompting a 50-hour siege in the North Island town.

The gunman was later found dead in his Chaucer Road home.

Police had gone to Molenaar's home on a routine drug raid. Senior Constable Len Snee was killed by the gunman, while Senior Constables Bruce Miller and Grant Diver were seriously injured.

Mr Holmwood said he wished to thank everyone who offered help and support since the incident and gave his best wishes to Mr Miller and Mr Diver, who were released from hospital on Friday.
