ACC set to axe more staff

8:16 pm on 27 May 2009

Seventy people look set to lose their jobs as restructuring at the Accident Compensation Corporation continues.

The corporation says it is making changes in a bid to become more efficient and put more people in frontline jobs.

ACC chief executive Jan White says about 150 contractor jobs have already been removed, most of them due to an IT project ending.

Ms White says details of the permanent cuts are still being worked out and staff will be consulted before a final decision is made.

"The majority probably would be coming from the information management group again, because as well as having a lot of contractors working on those projects we also had a lot of our own staff put on extra for those particular projects."

The job cuts are expected to be finalised in July.
