Up to 100 jobs to go at NZ Post

New Zealand Post has announced up to 100 managerial staff will lose their jobs.

Most of the affected staff work in Wellington, with the Auckland office losing the rest.

The company said on Thursday it has more than 1340 corporate and managerial staff. Between 80 and 100 would lose their jobs and a final number will be known by 1 July.

Spokesperson John Tulloch said New Zealand Post has been making cuts for about 10 years and staff knew that further changes were in the pipeline.

Mr Tulloch said too many layers of management slow down decision making and it is important that the business has the right skills in place to deal with dropping mail volumes and a growing online presence.
