New Plymouth police are searching for a teenager missing for over a week.
Nikolao Meafua, known as Niko, left his home in Bell Block after an argument with his mother on 10 June.
Waitara detective Paul Barron said on Thursday that police have received some reports of sightings of the 16-year-old, but searches and public appeals to find him have been unsuccessful.
Mr Barron said he believes someone has come into contact with Niko and is urging them to talk to police.
Paula Meafua has published a letter in the Taranaki Daily News asking for her son to forgive her and pleading for him to come home.
