Pacific Blue has no plans to reduce personnel

Pacific Blue says it has no plans to cut employee numbers despite a drop in the number of people flying.

The airline's main competitor, Air New Zealand, is to shed up to 80 personnel and cut overall capacity by 3%.

Pacific Blue says it is carrying fewer leisure passengers, but won't say how many.

The airline says it is always making changes to timetables but it will keep up the total number of seats.

It says a small number of staff have shown interest in going part-time, but the company has no plans to cut any positions.

Another airline, Qantas, is to be replaced on domestic routes by its Jetstar subsidiary from 10 June.
