A group set up to provide advice to the Health Quality and Safety Commission on how to reduce the number of family violence deaths says more needs to be done to deal with the aftermath of homicides.

The Family Violence Death Review Committee's third annual report says there are 29 family violence deaths on average each year - and they are all preventable.

It is recommending a multi-agency case management process be developed for high-risk cases of family violence.

Chair Julia Tolmie said there also needs to be an after-care process for survivors of family violence homicides.
