Car linked to Epsom home invasion found

4:20 pm on 4 June 2009

Police investigating a home invasion in the Auckland suburb of Epsom say they have found the vehicle driven by the alleged offenders.

A 63-year-old man and his son, 29, were badly beaten with a weapon shortly after 5am on Wednesday and are in Auckland Hospital.

Police say three men entered the property, seriously assaulted the pair and left in a dark green saloon car.

It is believed the father suffered lower spine fractures when he was run down by the vehicle as he chased the men. He was due to undergo surgery on Thursday.

Police say the violence used during the attack was gruesome and cowardly and could easily have proved fatal.

The three men, aged in their late teens or early 20s, have not been found on Thursday.
