Fiji community wants meeting with McCully

4:55 pm on 8 June 2009

Members of the Fiji community want to meet Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully to tell him directly about their concerns at how New Zealand is handling its relationship with their home country.

The request was made to Pacific island Affairs Minister Georgina te Heuheu at a meeting on Saturday night.

Radio New Zealand's Pacific issues correspondent says the Fiji political situation, difficult immigration issues and education were on the agenda.

Mrs te Heuheu says she will try to organise a meeting with Mr McCully.
