The father of Karla Cardno, the Lower Hutt schoolgirl who was brutally raped and murdered 20 years ago, is facing sex charges in the High Court.
The charges against Gary Duffin and his wife Sharyn Lee Hills include sexual violation and rape, and they are also charged with 10 counts of supplying a class C controlled drug to a minor.
All the offences are alleged to have taken place between May and December 1991.
The couple sought name suppression on medical grounds and also because they feared that publication of Mr Duffin's relationship to Karla Cardno could attract attention to the case.
However, the Court of Appeal has dismissed their application.
Mr Duffin and Ms Hills will go on trial in October.
