Jury watches footage of Xue going to police station

A jury in Auckland has seen pictures of Nai Yin Xue picking up his passport from Henderson police station two days after he is alleged to have killed his wife.

Mr Xue is charged with the murder of An An Liu, two days before he flew to Melbourne where he abandoned their daughter Qian Xun, who was three at the time.

CCTV footage played to the jury in Auckland High Court showed Mr Xue holding his daughter's hand as he walked across the police station carpark.

He had been convicted earlier in the year of assaulting his wife and his passport was being held at the police station.

Travel agent Yani Huang told the court Mr Xue had initially bought only one adult ticket to fly to Melbourne but later returned to buy one for his daughter.

She told the court how Mr Xue came into her shop with Qian Xun on 13 September to inquire about travelling to Australia that day.

At first, she said, he bought a ticket only for himself but asked how much a child's would cost.

She says that later in the day, and very close to the check-in time, Mr Xue returned to buy a ticket for his daughter on the same flight.

Two days later she was found alone at a Melbourne railway station.
