Shooting of Foxton gang member investigated

10:17 am on 13 June 2009

Police are attempting to work out the circumstances of a shooting in which an injured Nomad motorcycle gang member was found in a car in a Foxton driveway.

The 25-year-old man is a relative of the Nomad's Horowhenua and Otaki gang founder, Dennis Hines, whose funeral was held in Foxton on Thursday.

It is thought the victim, who has injuries to his leg and hand, was driven to the location where the car was found after being shot.

Police believe the man's relative drove him to a pay phone where an ambulance was called, but say it is not clear where the shooting occured or why.

The man, from Horowhenua, was being treated at Hutt hospital.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the blue and silver Holden Calais the man was found in, before 4:30pm on Thursday.
