Police in South Auckland say they have found the parents of a young girl who spent the night in the care of Child, Youth and Family.
Four-year-old Valerie was found at 4.30pm on Sunday, wandering near the intersection of Tavern Lane and St George Street in Papatoetoe.
On Monday morning, police made public appeals for her parents to come forward, after efforts to find them failed.
Inspector Shawn Rutene, of the police northern communications centre, says a member of the public called in, and it appears to have been a misunderstanding between family members.
