Support for wider university access

A Maori lawyer and leading Treaty negotiator is backing a call by Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples last week for Maori to be given unfettered entry into university.

Willie Te Aho told Waatea News he supports that because the education system is failing Maori.

He says the Waikato University law faculty has a different admissions policy for Maori students and mature students, and it is a strategy which needs to be adopted across the whole university system.
