Wellington City Council has revealed the extent of a threat made by a man to Mayor Kerry Prendergast.
Police have not charged the man who made a phone call to Ms Prendergast last Friday.
Personal security for the mayor was increased while police investigated the incident.
Wellington City Council chief executive Gary Poole told Morning Report the man said he would come down to Ms Prendergast's office and cause her harm.
Mr Poole said words such as "taking her out" were used.
After listening to the call and speaking to the man, Inspector Pete Cowan says police accepted his explanation that no threat was intended.
