Competition leaders Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic have become the first New Zealand team to score a win in Australia in netball's trans-Tasman competition, beating the West Coast Fever in Perth, 49-38 on Sunday.
The Magic's Irene van Dyk didn't miss any of her 16 shots in the first half and dominated defender Susan Fuhrmann.
She finished with 29-of-31 and her attacking partner Maria Tutaia shot 20-of-25.
Fever's Caitlin Bassett was put under great pressure from Leana de Bruin and Casey Williams and only finished with 30 goals.
The Magic went on a five-goal run to lead 26-19 at the main break.
Little changed in the third quarter as Waikato/Bay of Plenty extended their lead to nine and ran out comfortable 11-goal winners.
Pulse beat NSW Swifts
After almost two entire seasons in the trans-Tasman netball competition, New Zealand's Central Pulse finally recorded a win with a narrow 53-52 defeat of the NSW Swifts.
The luckless Pulse had never picked up a competition point from 26 fixtures, but toppled last year's champion side at Te Rapuparaha Arena in Porirua for a breakthrough win.
Paula Griffin shot 35 goals from 39 attempts, with Te Amo Amaru-Tibble scoring 18 goals at 86%.
