About 200 people turned out to a rally at Parliament on Tuesday to kick-start a pay equity campaign.
The Wellington rally was organised by the Pay Equity coalition, made up of unions and women's groups.
The coalition is critical of the Government for scrapping the pay and employment equity unit at the Department of Labour.
University Students Association co-president Sophia Blair told the rally groups are also concerned about the lack of attention being paid to the pay equity issue.
A pay equity rally was also held in Auckland on Tuesday.
