Winter holidays overseas on the rise

New Zealanders are booking more overseas holidays to get away from the winter weather.

The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric research says the cold wet weather experienced in June will continue throughout the rest of winter.

That is good news for travel agents. Brent Thomas of The House of Travel says there is an increase in the number of people trying to escape the winter blues and are booking overseas trips to the Gold Coast and the Pacific Islands.
