More charges are possible over a seizure of 15 weapons at a remote rural address near Tauranga on Thursday. Other people may also be arrested.
A Tauranga man has been remanded in custody on charges including unlawful possession of firearms, pistols, and ammunition, as well as receiving stolen goods.
He will appear in the Tauranga District Court again on Monday.
Senior Sergeant Dave Archibald says a wide range of old and new rifles, pistols, magazines and ammunition were confiscated.
They included sophisticated, military-style semi-automatic rifles.
