Public warming to home insulation scheme

6:16 pm on 20 July 2009

The Government says it has received strong interest from the public in its home insulation scheme.

The scheme entitles home owners to a grant of up to $1300 or a third of the cost of having insulation installed. It is not means tested.

Prime Minister John Key says the Energywise call centre has received nearly 9000 calls since the scheme began on 1 July.

Mr Key says the Energywise and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority website have received more than 100,000 hits.

He hopes to be able to report in August on the number of applications the authority has received since the scheme's launch.
