The NZX 50 index rose 16 points or 0.5% to 3012 during Tuesday morning trading, on turnover of $28 million.
Among the major stocks, Telecom was up 1 cent to $2.87 at 12.25pm, Fletcher Building had risen 1 cent to $7.30 and Contact Energy increased 4 cents to $6.23.
Methven was down 1 cent to $1.32, Pumpkin Patch was unchanged at $1.65 and Sky Television had risen 2 cents to $4.38.
In currency markets the dollar is trading at 65.57 US cents, 79.8 Australian, 39.79 pence, 62.29 yen and 0.4904 euro. The TWI stood at 61.26
Across the Tasman, the Australian 200 index was up 4 points to 4144 in early trading.
