Now easier for racial abuse complaints to be made

Social agencies in Nelson are backing a new system they say will make it easier for victims of racial abuse to make complaints.

A study has found eight out of 10 people from ethnic minorities in Nelson have experienced racism, but most don't report incidents.

The study has led to the development of a community-based reporting system for victims, the first of its kind in the country.

The system will encourage victims to come forward, by making the process simple and, if they wish, anonymous.
