Wages rose in the three months to June, but demand for labour continued to fall.

A quarterly employment survey by Statistics New Zealand shows salary and wage rates rose 0.3% in the second quarter and 2.8% over the past year.

However, the number of people in full time work fell 3.2% during the quarter. Filled jobs dropped by 2.1%.

The number of hours worked also fell during the June quarter.
