An employee at the Environmental Science and Research Agency has been granted diversion after being accused of disclosing information from a DNA database.
A charge against Alexandra Monique Cranstoun, 27, of breaching the ESR's DNA Profile Databank has been withdrawn.
She was due to appear at the Auckland District Court on Friday morning but the hearing was cancelled.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of three years' imprisonment but the prosecution says it has been dealt with through diversion.
No details of the database breach have been issued, but it is understood to be the first case of its kind since the database was set up in 1996.
