Kiwi international and Sydney Roosters player Seitamata Sa will be hauled before the NRL club's board to explain why his playing contract should not be torn up.
The 21-year-old player was charged following an alleged incident at the Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney on Sunday night.
Sa will appear in court on 23 September on charges of assault, resisting arrest, failure to leave a licensed premises and malicious damage.
He has been stood down from all club activities.
New Zealand Rugby League general manager Peter Cordtz says it will not be making any comment at this stage as the Sydney Roosters are investigating the incident.
The Australian club has already been fined for a number of alcohol-related incidents involving its players this year.
