A Christchurch man accused of murdering his wife and neighbour can now be identified, following a second court appearance on Friday.

Jason Somerville, 33, is now charged with the murder of Tisha Lowry on or about 25 September last year, as well a charge of murdering his wife Rebecca Somerville.

The bodies of Mrs Somerville, 35, and Ms Lowry, 28, were discovered buried under the floor of Somerville's house in Wainoni Road a week ago.

The lawyer for Mr Somerville, David Ruth, told Christchurch District Court that suppression was no longer sought.

The accused was remanded in custody until his next appearance on 12 November.
