More luxury cars being auctioned

There's been a rise in the number of luxury cars being sold by the vehicle auctioneers Turners.

The company holds a sale every quarter, and Saturday's auction saw 30 prestige cars go under the hammer, compared with 16 in June.

Sales manager Chris Broadhurst says the number of repossessed vehicles sold at the auction was also up, by 31% on this time last year.

He says it shows people are currently unable to afford the payments on their high-end vehicles.

The cars at Saturday's auction had an estimated combined value of more than $3 million.

The top bid was $216,000 for a Lamborghini Murcielago.
