One of the first people to be arrested under Wanganui's gang patch bylaw has had his charge withdrawn in court.
Brett Beamsley, 45, was charged with displaying gang insignia in the city the day after the bylaw came into affect.
Police in Wanganui says he was wearing a beanie with a bulldog on it, but at this stage that has been deemed to be insufficent evidence for court action to proceed.
Another man, John Ratana, 21, who was the first person arrested under the bylaw, has had his hearing postponed until early next month.
He has not entered a plea.
