Biologist wins US award for apple research

A New Zealand scientist has been recognised internationally for her contribution to apple research.

Dr Sue Gardiner, a molecular biologist at Plant & Food Research, has been awarded the Outstanding International Horticulturist Award by the American Society for Horticultural Science.

The award recognises the scientific excellence of her research in apple genetics and her contribution to the development of new technologies for fruit breeding programmes and developing new varieties of fruits.
