A passenger who sparked an armed police callout after claiming to have home-made explosives on a bus has been charged with threatening to kill.
The 29-year-old appeared in Napier District Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody until next week. He was granted name suppression.
The driver of a Newmans Coach Lines bus was concerned at the behaviour of the man and contacted police after he made a scheduled at a bus terminal outside the Napier Travel Centre on Wednesday.
The accused surrended to police after a four-hour standoff.
