GPS unit stolen from ambulance

St John Ambulance is appealing for the return of a GPS unit stolen from one of its vehicles in Christchurch.

The GPS unit was stolen from the rapid response unit about 10pm on Friday while paramedics attended an emergency in the suburb of Belfast.

St John spokesperson Tony Dowell says the unit is crucial in helping paramedics locate addresses and is disappointed that someone would steal from the ambulance service.

Mr Dowell says anyone with information about the theft should contact police.
