Grafton Bridge re-opens

12:18 pm on 4 October 2009

Grafton Bridge in Auckland City was re-opened in a festive ceremony on Sunday. It's 99 years since it was built.

The bridge has been closed since last year. It was first opened in 1910.

Mayor John Banks joined family members of then-Mayor Charles Grey, to cut the ribbon with the original scissors he used.

The bridge will be part of a new bus priority corridor being built to link the central city and Newmarket.
