Samoan community leaders in New Zealand are preparing to send up to 30 shipping containers full of aid to families affected by the tsunami.

About 50 people, including the Consul General, community leaders and family members met in central Auckland to organise the project on Monday night.

Families have until Thursday evening to contribute. The first containers will be sent to Apia this weekend.
