Broadcaster Colin Lehmann dies at 70

Long-serving broadcaster Colin Lehmann has died at the age of 70.

Mr Lehmann retired from radio in 2005 after 44 years in the industry.

At the time of retirement, he was presenting a breakfast programme for Radio Dunedin and was well-known for his children's character Charlie Mouse.

Mr Lehmann also worked for many years for Radio New Zealand where he was a familiar voice across the country reading news bulletins.

He spent his last years living in the Australian state of Queensland, where he died on Wednesday of cancer.
