Ladyhawke scoops top music awards

Ladyhawke has swept the top prizes at the New Zealand Music Awards held in Auckland on Thursday night.

The Masterton singer, whose off-stage name is Pip Brown, took away six Tuis in all - including Best Single, Best Album, Best Female Solo Artist and the international achievement award.

Pop-rockers Midnight Youth won Best Group and Best Rock Album, while hip-hop trio Smashproof claimed three prizes, including Highest Selling Single and Best Music Video.

Veteran entertainer Ray Columbus and his group The Invaders were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
