The woman accused of hijacking a domestic Air New Zealand flight is facing an assault charge involving a Department of Corrections officer.
Asha Abdille is awaiting trial on the charge of hijacking and of stabbing two pilots and a passenger in February last year.
In September, Ms Abdille was transferred from Christchurch Woman's prison to Arohata Woman's Prison near Wellington because of disruptive behaviour.
At Porirua District Court on Tuesday the woman was charged with assault with intent to injure.
It is alleged she threw a hot cup of tea over a Corrections officer in Christchurch.
Ms Abdille was remanded in custody to reappear on 27 October.
