Further search fails to find missing Auckland student

The Auckland police say a further area canvass of Westhaven Marina has not found any sign of missing student Srikanth Rayadurgam.

A specialist team searching for the missing 23-year-old scoured the shoreline between Point Chevalier and Westhaven Marina in Auckland on Saturday.

Mr Rayadurgam was last seen leaving his Mt Albert home on 1 October.

Phone records show his mobile phone was used on Karangahape Road the night he disappeared. He was also seen at a National Bank ATM in the same street at about 2pm that day.

Mr Rayadurgam's wallet and some clothes were found near Westhaven Marina the following morning.

A subsequent search of the shoreline and harbour has failed to find Mr Rayadurgam.

Detective Sergeant Joe Aumua says a further canvass of streets around the marina on Saturday failed to turn up any more information.

But he says information is still being received by police on the 0800 line.

"So there are a number of inquiries to be done there, and we're still speaking to some of his associates so we're hoping some information might come out of that."

Detective Sergeant Aumua says investigators are looking into some aspects of Mr Rayadurgam's lifestyle, of which his family were not aware.
