Ambulance service seeks clarity on addresses

9:06 pm on 20 October 2009

St John Ambulance hopes a new website where people can add information about how to get to their home will reduce the time officers spend getting lost and going to the wrong address.

St John says the annual number of calls with confused information is less than 1%, but the consquences are great. St John receives 320,000 callouts per year.

Operations director Tony Blaber says everyone should add their location to the Terralink website to clarify colloquial or obscure addresses.

He says having clearer information will reduce delays in getting help to a patient.

Mr Blayer says it is particularly important for people living rurally to check that their address is clear and correct.
